Patrick O'Brien - NEW COACH
Pat is our newest coach to the Palos Verdes Water Polo Club and we are extremely happy to have him on board. Pat is a product of the PVWPC, having played locally at Peninsula HS and LMU. While at LMU his teams reached the final four of the NCAA multiple times. He has spent 3 years coaching high school players in the summers for Palos Verdes High and is now a full time coach for the Sea Kings. His sister Katie O'Brien, also a PVWPC product, was a standout player on the Sea King Womens team, and in 2006 led her team to the semi-finals.

Chris Murin is the Head Men's and Women's water polo coach at Palos Verdes High School. Chris began his water polo career at Palos Verdes High School. His senior season he garnered team MVP, Bay League MVP, All-CIF, and athlete of the year nominee.
Murin returned to Peninsula High School to coach water polo from 1995-2000. He coached all levels of boys and girls water polo winning multiple league championships. He left as co-head coach in 2000. Chris then joined the staff at the Palos Verdes Water Polo Club as an age-group coach and led the 14 boys to their best showing at the Junior Olympics. Murin continued coaching club water polo coaching 14 & under, 16 & under, and 18 & under teams.
In 2008 he was awarded "Daily Breeze Coach of the year", making it the third such honor for the Palos Verdes High Coach.. He has been the assistant coach in multiple National Championships including Junior Olympics and National Age Group Championship games. Garnering 3 USWP silver medals and one gold medal. As a Club Head Coach Chris has 7 players who have earned USA All American Status. His teams have traveled to Canada, Utah, Florida and throughout Southern and Northern California. More recently Murin will be returning to Hungary 2008 to complete 3 straight years of taking players from Palos Verdes to compete against the best in the World. Chris is very proud and excited to return to Palos Verdes Water Polo Club.
Ed Robinson – Ed Robinson was the one of the founding members of Palos Verdes Water Polo Club in 2000. Ed began his playing career at Riverside Poly High where he was All CIF in 1975-76 and All American in 1976. While at Poly, the Bears became the first non-Orange or Los Angeles county team to reach the CIF finals. After high school, Ed played for Bob Horn and Rich Corso at UCLA where he was a 4 year starter and 3 time NCAA All American. He was chosen the most valuable player at UCLA in 1978 and was captain in 1980. Ed along with Dick Najarian led the Bruins to the NCAA final in 1979. Ed was a graduate assistant coach at UCLA in 1981. Upon leaving UCLA, Ed became a member of the United States National Team. He also Played for Industry Hills. At Industry, Ed was a member of two U.S. Water Polo Senior Mens National Championship teams and twice was chosen as a Senior Mens United States Water Polo All American. On the national team, Ed represented the United States from 1981-83 and in 1985. He was a member of the 1982 silver medal team at the World University Games and has silver medals from the 1981 and 1982 Tasmajdren Cup in Belgrade Yugoslavia. He also played in tournaments for the U.S. in what is now Croatia, Hungary, Spain, The Netherlands and Canada. More recently as Head Coach for various age group youth teams, Ed has coached his teams to one silver and two bronze medals in National Championship tournaments. Ed lives with his wife Anne in Palos Verdes Estates. Their 4 children are budding water polo players. Ed is an attorney specializing in Federal and State criminal defense.
